Think top 10 romantic movies, and The Notebook is sure to pop up on that list. Starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, this tearjerker tells the tale of an everlasting love story that we can only dream of achieving.

It’s based on a book by well-known author Nicholas Sparks and has won many awards.

The famous dress from The Notebook

One of the best scenes in the movie is when Noah (Gosling) and Aly (McAdams) meet after years, go on a romantic boat ride in the rain, and end up reminiscing and kissing passionately. The gorgeous blue dress from that scene has become iconic and is the one Kobe Bryant bought for his wife, Vanessa, in 2013.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Rachel McAdams mentioned how it came up at the premiere of her movie Sherlock Holmes.

When Bryant first told McAdams that he had purchased her dress, she was taken aback. Bryant then explained about the dress he was talking about, and McAdams couldn’t help but be touched. She hadn’t realized that The Black Mamba was such a huge movie fan and a romantic.

Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, first appeared in the cornflower blue dress and matching shoes in 2013. The world was stunned, and no one could stop talking about it.

Vanessa couldn’t help but bring it up at the star’s memorial service after the unfortunate crash in 2020.

She referred to her husband as loving, romantic, adoring, and incredibly thoughtful even while he was busy working hard. Apparently, when Vanessa asked Bryant why he had chosen that particular dress, his answer was because it was in the scene when Ally went back to Noah.

At the time, the couple had recently united after being separated for more than a year. If that isn’t the most romantic gesture, we don’t know what is.

Karyn Wagner, the costume designer of ‘The Notebook,’ learned about this thoughtful act only while watching the live stream of the memorial service. Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Karyn mentioned that she couldn’t help but cry when the story came up.

The eulogy really touched her heart, and she was honored to be a part of Bryant’s history in some way.

Vanessa also spoke about how the two had hoped to grow old together, like Noah and Allie. While life had other plans, she believes they had a fantastic love story.

The Late NBA superstar was known for a lot of achievements, including two Olympic golds, and four consecutive 50-point games. Bryant will always be a legendary basketball player, but his biggest accomplishment will be that he was a stellar husband and father.
